Police raid foils £33k drug deal in Red Lodge

By Newsdesk Newmarket

A Red Lodge woman is facing a jail term after she admitted her part in a £33,000 drug deal foiled when police swooped on her home.

Twenty-three-year-old Lacey Taylor, of Elderberry Way, will be sentenced next month after she pleaded guilty to being concerned in dealing Class A drugs.

Three men arrested during the raid on May 23, who also admitted being involved in the supply of Class A drugs were jailed at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday.

Ryan Oyeyemi, 26, and Adenis Laho, 37, both of no fixed address, and Klaus Saliraj, 26, of Pasteur Close, London, were each jailed for 56 months.

The court heard that police had seen Taylor arrive at her home with a number of bags, one of which contained £33,000 in cash. As Laho and Saliraj arrived officers moved in. Oyeyemi tried to flee but went into the house where he was seen destroying a SIM card from a mobile phone.

Police established that the £33,000 had been intended to buy 1kg of cocaine with a street value of about £50,000.

Saliraj claimed he had been offered £200 to collect money and return it to London, Laho said he had agreed to deliver a bag in return for a drug debt being written off. Oyeyemi had been promised a small quantity of cocaine.
