Two patients from Oakfield Surgery in Newmarket have seen incredible results during a new fitness programme to help tackle their diabetes.

George Darling and Mark Sharpe have been put through their paces at Body Plan Fitness in Fordham and since starting their 12 week trial on June 29, they have seen huge lifestyle improvements.

Within the fist six weeks, Mr Darling’s blood pressure and the need for him to use diabetic control had lowered and fellow participant, Mr Sharpe, could also see a positive impact.

He said: “Since the 12 Week Body Plan I’ve lost three kilos in six weeks and my insulin dosage has been reduced.”

The programme includes nutritional consultations, cook book and meal planner and three fat burning sessions a week at the facility.

Dr Nick Rayner, who joined forces with Body Plan Fitness for the trial, was pleased with the results he has seen so far and hoped this could be a way to help diabetics in the future.

He said: “This plan has had some really positive results and the next stage is to gain funding so that we can enable more people to be able to participate in the Body Plan Programme going forward.”
