Pedestrian taken to hospital following collision in Beck Row

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Beck Row yesterday (Wednesday).

Police were called by a member of the public shortly after 4.30pm to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the A1101 near to Rookery Drove.

A black Mercedes collided with a woman in her 60s, who was walking on the pavement causing her serious injuries.

The woman was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge by air ambulance, while the male driver of the Mercedes was taken to West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds. His injuries are not believed to be serious.

Anyone who witnessed to the incident is asked to contact Pc Jason Lambourne at the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
