A lost dog has been reunited with its owner after it was taken for a ride on a commuter train for 14 miles.
The cairn terrier was spotted wandering and looking lost by schoolchildren at Newmarket station.
They told the train conductor who took it on board and carried it to Cambridge where it was handed to a local council dog warden.
They took it to a vet to check its microchip - and tracked down the owner for its safe return.
A spokesman for train operators Abellio Greater Anglia said: “Our staff at Cambridge were pleased to care for an unexpected four-legged friend this morning when a stray dog was handed in which had been found at Newmarket station, and was brought to Cambridge on the 08.19 arrival.”
