Newmarket man charged in connection to Wicken stabbing

A Newmarket man has been charged with wounding with intent following a stabbing in Wicken on Friday.

Christopher Wing, 59, of Nimbus Way, has also been jointly charged with Mark Gambie, 56, of Victoria Close, West Row, to conspiring to cause damage to property to endanger life.

Wing has been remanded in custody until January 11 when both men are set to appear in Cambridge Crown Court. Gambie was released on bail.

Police were called in the hours of Friday by a man in his 20s who said he had been stabbed outside his home.

He was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, with serious but not life threatening injuries.
