Man and woman killed in collision in Cambridgeshire village


A man and a woman have died in a collision in a Cambridgeshire village.

John Smith, 19, of Willow Park, Beck Row, was driving a Ford Fiesta van along the A142 Iretons Way, in Mepal, at about 5pm on Monday, February 27 when it was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Meriva.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wendy Wheatley, 74, of Valentine Close, Manea was a passenger in the Vauxhall. She was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge but passed away.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a man in his 70s, and a teenage passenger in the Fiesta suffered serious injuries and were taken to Addenbrooke’s.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Cambridgeshire Road Policing Unit on 101.
