Man, 73, faces trial on historic sex charges

A 73-year-old man accused of sex offences on a female in Harlow over 35 years ago including rape, faces a trial at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Reginald Pike, of Wiggin Close, Barton Mills, appeared in the dock at Chelmsford Magistrates ‘ Court and was sent for trial to appear on November 10 on unconditional bail.

He is charged with gross indecency with a girl under the age of 12 between December 1973 and December 1974 in Harlow.

Pike is said to have committed an act of gross indecency with the same girl when she was under the age of 13 between 5 December 1974 and 4 December 1975.

He is also said to have indecently assaulted the same girl by then over 16 on 1 April 1979 and 30 April 1979 and finally to have raped her when she was aged 16 or over between the same dates.
