F-15 fighters from the USAF 48th Fighter Wing were moved to RAF Mildenhall yesterday after damage was found on RAF Lakenheath’s runway.

A USAF spokesman said the ‘minimal’ damage was due to wear and tear.

He added that the jets could have flown back last night but were delayed until this morning to avoid the noise disturbing people around the bases.
