Kentford organisation launches rehab centre
A new day programme at an addiction support centre in Kentford hopes to ‘fill the gap’ left by the closure of a well-known centre in Bury St Edmunds.
Abbeycare Group, in Jeddah Way, has introduced the new programme to help those who may have used the Bury St Edmunds counselling organisation Focus 12, which shut in August because of financial issues.
Lisa Robertson, whohas developed the programme with senior therapist Tony Pace, said: “We wanted to offer similar services to what Focus 12 had in place that were in a similar price range. The two therapists that work here have quite a long history with Focus 12 and we were really keen to put it out there to people that the same service is available and raise awareness of the fact that we can fill the gap it has left.
“Not a lot of people know we’re there so people who wanted to access rehab might be looking out of the area. I want to get the word out that we can help.”
The group is aiming to start clients on the programme this month.
“Hopefully it will build better relationships within the community and hopefully it will enable abstinence based recovery,” said Lisa, who has worked with the company for five years. I would like people to be signposted to us as well to ensure we can bring about the biggest positive impact possible.”
