Residents of Newmarket’s Crockfords Park estate have formed an association to fight for local concerns.

Crockford’s Park Residents’ Association was set up following a public meeting at Ditton Lodge primary school last month.

Taking the chair, Carl Poole said : “It’s crucial that there is a representative body that speaks with authority on matters affecting Crockfords Park residents, champions partnership working and is identifiable by outsiders. Events of recent times demonstrate that now is the right time to act.”

The meeting was called after concerns were raised in January when Flagship Housing applied for permission for a major homes’ development on allotment land opposite the primary school.

The application was withdrawn in March pending further consultations. Mr Poole who has lived in the area for 20 years, said the association would aim to enhance the quality of life for residents and promote community interests.
