Homeless man jailed for eight months after spitting in nurses faces at West Suffolk Hospital
A 25-year-old man has been jailed for eight months after he spat in the faces of two accident and emergency nurses at West Suffolk Hospital.
Homeless Zeb Fitts pleaded guilty to assaulting the two nurses at an earlier hearing on April 8. He also admitted one count of common assault and another of criminal damage.
Police were called at 12.45pm on Monday, April 6, to reports that a 19-year-old man had been punched and kicked in the torso at an address in Bury St Edmunds.
Fitts was arrested at the scene and taken to have a hand injury assessed at West Suffolk Hospital, where he spat at the nurses treating him.
Yesterday, he was sentenced to a total of eight months in jail – six months for each count of assaulting emergency workers, which will run concurrently to each other, two months for common assault and two weeks concurrent for criminal damage.
