Heath race will boost head injury charity

Organisers of next month’s annual Heath Race are hoping for a bumper entry to boost the event’s chosen charity, Headway.

The six kilometre off-road race on Thursday May 7 and starts just off the Bury Road near the garage, It will also incorporate a junior event and the keenly contested stud and stable staff championship. Newmarket Jogger Greg Davis, who is one of the organisers said: “Although our members compete all over the country, and occasionally Europe in various running codes and distances, the Newmarket Joggers are passionate about staging the Heath Race to support our chosen charity each year.

“Our good causes are often associated with racing including the Racing Centre, Camilla Millbank who was paralysed when riding out on the heath and this year Headway the life after brain injury charity which is delighted that Newmarket is fundraising on their behalf.

The children’s race starts at 6.30pm and can be entered on the night, no later than 6.15pm. Adult entry should be through the Newmarket Joggers website with numbers collected on the night.
