A district council has appointed a new community health coach to help residents make healthier lifestyle choices and become more active.
As from March residents living in Forest Heath will be able to access group programmes and one-to-one support with Toby Turner following his appointment as the district’s new community health coach.
The 23 year old, who was a volunteer Games Maker at the 2012 London Paralympic Games, graduated with a distinction in a sports and exercise psychology masters degree in December.
“I will be organising exercise courses, weight management programmes, stop smoking clinics and other sessions to help improve your healthy lifestyle,” said Toby.
“From March these services will be available to people in Mildenhall and Newmarket. The aim is to reach even more people in Forest Heath by bringing our services to their doorstep.”
Toby’s appointment is part of a pilot scheme being run by Forest Heath District Council and Live Well Suffolk after they received funding from Suffolk County Council.
