Newmarket Day Centre will be teaming up with the town’s Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) to help people cut hundreds of pounds from energy bills.

The organisations will be out and about during Big Energy Saving Week, a national campaign, starting on Monday, that aims to help consumers check they are on the best deal, switch tariff or supplier, and take advice on how to insulate their homes and reduce energy usage.

Lynne Rawlings, manager at Newmarket CAB, said: “During Big Energy Saving Week we’ll be helping consumers to check, switch and insulate to bring their energy costs down.

“The rising cost of living means that more and more people are finding their household budgets won’t cover day-to-day essentials.”

She added: “We’re keen to make sure that no-one pays a penny more than they need to on energy costs. There are practical things that people can do to reduce their energy bills and help ease financial pressure.”

CAB advisers will be at Newmarket Open Door today from 10am to 12.30pm.

As well as providing general information, a specialist advisor will be running a clinic for residents to find out how to save on their energy bills.

Anyone who would like to meet the specialist should call Newmarket Day Centre on 01638 664262 to book an appointment.
