A market event which offered potential stall holders the chance to trade for free on Newmarket’s market square is to be repeated next month.
A dozen additional stalls took part in the trial event earlier this month organised as part of a special Easter weekend promotion by Forest Heath District Council and the free stalls initiative will now be repeated on May 9.
“It is great that this initiative is being repeated,” said market trader Andy Neal.
“The last event saw many more shoppers visit the market and gave us an insight to the real potential it holds. More events on a regular basis can turn the market into a focal attraction for the town’s retail. A strong market will benefit the shops, as it attracts shoppers to Newmarket.”
Sharon Fairweather, market development officer for West Suffolk councils, said: “This is the chance for home and hobby businesses to test their products on the town market.
“We are looking for crafts, creative businesses, as well as food and drink stalls, that can really add to the flavour of the Newmarket market.
“We can provide a table plus insurance cover for the day. We also have special start-up deals for those interested in becoming a regular stallholder.” Anybody interested should contact Sharon Fairweather on 01284 757093 or email Sharon.firstname.lastname@example.org
