Fitness guru Jade works out to raise £10k for charity
As a personal trainer and UK Spartan athlete, Red Lodge’s Jade Skillen is used to pushing things beyond the limit.
But even she was overwhelmed by the £10,243 she has raised for the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.
Fitness guru Jade, who owns JS Fitness Co, embarked on 12 straight one-hour fitness workouts on Saturday, May 2, and had initially hoped to raise £2,000 from her effort.
The virtual workouts started daily at 7.30am and were open to everyone with those taking part asked to make a donation.
Sponsored by Morgan-Evans Equestrian, the event was also supported by a number of local businesses.
“It was incredible. I couldn’t believe how much we raised,” said Jade
“It is an amazing amount and I was a bit overwhelmed at the time,” said the former West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur Ladies footballer.
“I must say a huge thanks to all of the people and the local businesses that helped to support the event. Some of my clients did incredibly well.
“In this time of uncertainty, where people are understandably worried about their finances, everyone was so generous.
“We ended up having people from Spain, Greece, UAE, and the USA take part. I am chuffed to bits and hopefully the money can help to make a bit of a difference.”
Jade has also been named in the UK Pro Spartan team for this year.
Along with her compatriots she will be competing in five gruelling events, two 21k beast races, two 10k super racesand a 5k sprint.
Her campaign had been due to start in April but was pushed back as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. It is now set to start in Market Harborough on July 11.
Later in the year Jade hopes to be lining up for the 2020 Spartan World Championship which is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi in December.
