Unemployment figures in the West Suffolk constituency, which covers both Newmarket and Mildenhall, have fallen again official figures have shown.
Figures released by the Office for National Statistics on Wednesday showed that 43 more people in the area are now in work compared to the previous month.
Since the election in 2011 unemployment in the area has dropped by 57 per cent, while there has been a 54 per cent decrease in long term unemployment in the past 12 months.
“Unemployment has fallen again in West Suffolk to 57 per cent lower than when I first became an MP. That’s 1,000 fewer people on unemployment benefit and 1,000 more people in work,” said Matthew Hancock, MP for West Suffolk.
“But I am not complacent. One person unemployed is one person too many so I will continue to fight on behalf of local business to ensure unemployment continues to fall.”
