Police are warning drivers to remove property from their cars after thieves struck in the Newmarket area on Wednesday.

The first two thefts were in Lakenheath. Between 2pm and 2.30pm, a blue Dacia estate in a parking area at Maids Cross Hill had its lock forced and a bag left in the car was searched but nothing was stolen.

Minutes later a Chrysler Grand Voyager parked in Lilac Drive had a window smashed and a purse was stolen from inside.

Later in the day, between 7.30pm and 8.20pm, a bag was taken from a Ford Ka parked in the car park at the Rowley Mile in Newmarket.
