Curtain comes down on busy year for schools

With the school year coming to an end, many youngsters were saying farewell to their primary schools through end of term celebrations including sports days, drama productions and fairs.

At Houldsworth Valley Primary Academy, in Newmarket, Key stage 2 pupils aged from seven to 11 brought the characters of Aladdin, Jasmine, Jafar and the Genie to life in their end of term show Aladdin Kids. “They have worked incredibly hard on this production and I’m incredibly proud of each and every one of them,” said teacher Lizzie Ennis.

Pupils at Moulton turned to The Bard for inspiration for their show Shakespeare Rocks, which told Will’s life story intertwined with element from some of his plays. The show turned out to be a real celebration as pupils had achieved ‘significantly above the national average’ results in their recent SATs tests.

Fordham Primary School’s end of term production by the Year 6 school leavers was Robin Hood and the Sherwood Hoodies, which involved 30 pupils in everything from acting to set design and music.

At All Saints’ Primary School and at St Louis Catholic Academy, in Newmarket, there were traditional sports’ days while pupils at Cheveley Primary School helped with the school’s annual summer fair as part of their end of term celebrations.
