Woman and baby knocked to the ground trying to stop man from being beaten in Newmarket town centre

A woman with an infant tried to come to the aid of a man being assaulted in Newmarket town centre at the weekend.

The incident happened in front of the Guineas Shopping Centre around 5pm on Saturday, March 12.

A 21-year-old man was approached by another man and assaulted, causing him bruising to the face and body.

A woman, who was holding an infant in her arms, tried to defend the man and was pushed over. The woman and the infant were not injured.

The offender is described as a white man, approximately 6’ 2” tall, was bald, of a stocky build and was wearing a grey coloured hooded top, grey cargo shorts and black shoes.
