The A11 northbound has been closed after a collision in which two people were injured this afternoon.

Highways England said just before 5pm that the road is closed between the B1106 at Elvedon and the B1107 at Thetford.

Suffolk Police say they were called to the scene at about 2.25pm to a two vehicle collision in which both drivers were injured, one seriously.

They were taken to hospital by ambulance.

A rolling road block was put in place at first, but the northbound carriageway was then closed.

Highways England suggests drivers heading northbound should leave the A11 at Elvedon and turn left to join the B1106to the junction with Green Road then turn right onto Green Road and continue to the B1107. At this junction turn right and continue on the B1107 to rejoin the A11 northbound near Thetford.

It adds: β€œRoad users are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and if possible consider an alternative route.”

At 5.45pm Traffic England was reporting near stationery traffic back to the Barton Mills roundabout.
