Beck Row couple lose the pounds and gain a baby daughter
A Beck Row couple, who lost more than seven stone between them to boost their chances of having a baby, have been named man and woman of the year at their slimming group.
Amy and David Precious, of Elmcroft Close, have recently welcomed little Olivia, a sister for five-year-old Mollie, into the world after regularly attending Slimming World sessions in the village.
They joined the group hoping to lose weight to improve their health and fitness and to increase their chances of having a second child.
“We had planned to have another baby when Mollie was three but it didn’t happen,” said Amy, 33, who had piled on the pounds when she was pregnant with her elder daughter.
“I weighed up to 18 stone and had developed gestational diabetes,” said Amy.
“I was told if I didn’t lose weight after she was born I would be diabetic so I lost some of it and then joined Slimming World to get help with the rest.
“I had been going to the group for 18 months before David joined and then three months after that, when he had lost two stone, I fell pregnant with Olivia.”
Amy now tips the scales at 12st while David, 37, who was 19st 4, now weighs in at 14st 10 only three pounds off his target. They have lost the weight mainly by changing both the quality and quantity of their diet and continue to attend the group’s sessions to lose the last few pounds and to maintain their new healthier lifestyle.
“I can now keep up with both of my children as I have more energy,” said Amy.
“I also have less pain in my knees and back.
David said: “I was depressed, which being part of the group and losing weight has helped with. I also used to suffer with migraines, but I now find they are less frequent.”
Their progress was hailed by Terri Cullern, consultant at Beck Row Slimming World.
She said: “It is an incredible feeling. They are not the only people in my group who have had trouble conceiving and it is a joy to see their family now complete.”
And Amy, David, Mollie and Olivia, who is now six months old, are looking forward to their first Christmas as a foursome.
“It will be lovely,” said Amy. “We are so grateful to Terri for her support and inspiration.”
