Beer and musical festival ready to rock into Soham

Soham is counting down to its annual beer and music festival.

Soham Staploe Rotary Club’s event is set to be held in and around The Walter Gidney Pavilion in the recreation ground on July 4 and 5.

A selection of real ales and ciders from Wicken-based Spinney Abbey Farm will be sold and bands from Blue Shed Studios in Regal Drive are to give performances.

Blue Thunder, Akimbo, Basket Case and 27 Not Out will start the show at 5pm on Friday with Wasteland Angels, Michael Antony, Learning to Fly, The Off-Beats and Fenland Jam due to take to the stage at 1pm on Saturday.

Honorary rotarian David Palmer from BBC show Flog It will hold an auction in aid of Soham’s newest primary school, The Shade, at 6.30pm on Saturday.

The day is being organised by Bruce Golson, a civilian pilot instructor from the US Air Force. Money raised from it will be donated to the Liam Fairhurst Foundation which was set up in honour of Soham’s courageous teenager to help young people with cancer and other disabilities.
