Arson attack destroys Soham bungalows
Detectives have launched a hunt for arsonists who torched two Soham bungalows at the weekend.
In the early hours of Saturday, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue were called to terraced bungalows in Queensway, where a fire had engulfed two homes.
From about 5.23am more than 25 firefighters, including crews from Burwell, Soham and Newmarket, battled the blaze which was eventually put out by 11am.
After an initial investigation, the county fire service said it believed it was started deliberately with Cambridgeshire Police having launched a investigation.
Residents escaped from the blaze unhurt, and a nearby resident described the fire as "terrifying".
The blaze, which is believed to have started in the right bungalow soon spread to its neighbouring house on the left, leaving the homes destroyed.
A Queensway resident, who did not want to be named, said: "Even watching from outside it was terrifying. I can't imagine what it would have been like to watch your house come down by fire."
Throughout Saturday investigators were at the scene, with the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service fire dog team also working at the properties.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said: "The cause of the fire was deliberate. Anyone with information should contact police by visiting cambs.police.uk to submit an online report or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
