Another milestone on the dualling scheme of the A11 between Fiveways roundabout and Thetford is in place to be reached on Sunday with the opening of the B1112 underpass between Eriswell and Icklingham. Subject to satisfactory weather conditions work to open the underpass will start overnight tomorrow and be complete by 6am on Saturday.

The new underpass replaces the previous staggered junction with the A11 which was difficult to use and had a poor accident record. As part of the project there will however be no access onto or off the A11 from the B1112.

“Work on the A11 dualling and improvement scheme is progressing well and now reaching its final phase,” said Geoff Chatfield, project manager for the Highways Agency.

“Opening of the B1112 underpass is another key milestone bringing us another step closer to delivering smoother, faster journeys along the A11 in Suffolk.”

Work on the dualling and improvement scheme is due to be completed by the winter.
