Country music, in the country
Los Pistolros.
This time last year, Paul Spencer stood at Easton Farm Park with a vision of putting on a music festival there. Now, he’s putting the finishing touches to his dream, which has become The Maverick Festival.
“I was at Easton Farm Park on a glorious, sunny day thinking it would be the perfect place for the festival,” said Paul, who lives nearby.
His dream of bringing Americana country music to Suffolk comes to life on the weekend of August 29 to 31 and, as well as British artists, he will be welcoming bands and singers from Nashville and Austin, in America.
Helped by his friend Ken Ansell, Paul has pulled together a wide variety of country musicians including Sam Baker, one of the leading lights in new country music.
Devon Sproule, pictured left, as seen on Later With Jools Holland, will perform, as will Los Pistolros, pictured right, who promise everything from western swing to Cajun.
The Maverick Festival will feature indoor and outdoor stages and a host of local food and drink.
Tickets are £35 for the weekend or £50 including camping, available from 01603 660352, www.ticketweb.com or by sending a cheque made payable to Claptrap TV to Claptrap TV, Easton, Woodbridge, Suffolk, IP13 0EJ.
