The scarecrows are back!

The village of Barton Mills has again decided to hold its famous Scarecrow Festival in June - after a gap of four years.

The Scarecrow Festival made the Guinness Book of Records in 1999 for the most number of scarecrows in one place - some 761!

There will not be as many this year, but the theme is “famous characters”, both real and fictional. In addition, there will be a whole raft of activities over that weekend: craft stalls and refreshments on the green, various activities including a Gruffalo trail at The Manor, and an exciting Pedal Car Time Trial event for different age groups, held in The Street.

The young people of the village are particularly involved in organising and running that event. On Saturday evening there will be a BBQ and live music on the Green, and on Sunday “Songs of Praise” at the church.

Money will be raised for the Church Preservation Trust, but also for various other charities.
