Tattersalls in Newmarket welcomed BBC Look East presenters Stewart White and Julie Reinger as they hosted the region's show.

Frankie Dettori treated the crowds to his famous flying dismount, while Stewart White spoke to companies, organisations and individuals who had raised money for the annual appeal.

Children at Fairstead House School in Newmarket raised £140 by baking cakes, which were sold at Friday's break time. Headboy William Follis and headgirl Kitty Watson took the cheque to Tattersalls' BBC Children in Need night.

BudgensinSoham had a song and dance day. Store staff donned fancy dress outfits and held a raffle, which raised £295. The prize was a trolley dash around the store, won by Mrs King, of Bushel Lane, Soham, who scooped more than £120 of goods in two minutes.

Jazzercisers took part in a 90-minute exercise session at Newmarket College and raised more than £1,300. Some participants wore fancy dress and prizes were on offer for the person who raised the largest amount of money.

Children at Messy Bugs Activity Club in Stetchworth got their hands dirty and created a Pudsey Bear collage with their handprints. There was also face painting, refreshments and cake decorating during the morning. Money raised from the event is still being counted.

There was role reversal at Laureate Primary School, Newmarket, as children and staff traded places for the day. Staff came to school dressed as pupils and children took on the roles of teachers, office staff, cleaners, dinner ladies and cooks, and raised £210.

The Rev Paul Tams and teacher Ed Lowis entrusted their hair to pupils at Riverside Middle School, Mildenhall, to raise more than £900. Mr Tams had his head shaved, while Mr Lowis had his beard trimmed.

More than £90 was raised at Ditton Lodge Nursery School, Newmarket, as children brought in their beloved teddy bears for the day.

A 12-hour workout and coffee morning raised £220 at Curves Gym, Mildenhall, while young people from The Kore group at Mildenhall Baptist Church came dressed in their pyjamas to raise more than £60.

At the Dome Leisure Centre, Mildenhall, energetic fundraisers ran for a total of 24 hours, raising about £500, and at ChristChurch, Newmarket, £278.78 was raised from a beetle drive and supper.
