Frinton-on-Sea II 126-0 beat Worlington 123

by 10 wickets

It was a day to forget for Worlington as they suffered their biggest defeat of the year, losing by 10 wickets at Frinton-on-Sea II.

Batting first, Worlington were dismissed for just 123 runs, with Ziaf Kulasi’s unbeaten knock of 43 being the highlight of their innings at Ashlyns Road.

Graham Ford added 34 runs from the top of the order, but it could not prevent the visitors from posting their lowest score of the season so far.

Worlington’s struggles continued in the field as Frinton eased to victory inside just 19 overs.

Shane Moseley (66 not out) and Joe Fowler (43 no) saw the home side over the line without dropping a single wicket.

The defeat sees Worlington drop two places in the Division One table, from sixth to eighth, with a home clash against strugglers Maldon their next encounter on Saturday (1pm).

n In Division Six, Worlington II registered their first win in four games, seeing off Kelvedon and Feering II by six wickets.

Ross Burt (69) and Alex Holder (52) hit half centuries for Kelvedon, who were bowled all out for 199 after Craig Woollard (4-27) did the damage with the ball.

Matt Peachey (1-14), Shaun Lister (1-16), Jonno Peachey (1-35) and Charlie Goodchild (1-43) also chipped in with wickets as Worlington bowled their opponents out for the first time in three weeks.

In reply Matt Peachey (77) and Thomas Baugh (29) laid a solid foundation for the Worlington run chase, before a mini collapse saw the hosts slip to 145-4.

However Ian Roberts (31 no) and captain Barny Bowens (26 no) regained control to see Worlington home as winners by six wickets at the Street.

The win keeps Worlington in fourth spot in the Division Six table, ahead of visiting third-placed Nowton at Overway Meadow on Saturday (1pm).
