TOURING CARS: Jarvis loooking for kick-start season

OLIVER Jarvis will be looking to kick start his German Touring Car season with a positive result in round six of the series at Zandvoort on Sunday.

Last time out at the Nurburgring, Germany, the 26-year-old from Burwell had a race to forget after finishing a disappointing 11th.

Running wide on the opening turn, Jarvis dropped a couple of positions before coming into contact with Audi Team Phoenix driver Alexandre Premat. From then on in the former A1 GP driver failed to match the pace of the lead cars crossing the line in a mid-field position.

The non-points scoring finish means that Jarvis has picked up just five points from the opening five rounds of the championship.

Jarvis will now be aiming to repeat last year's finish at the Dutch track where he took his best result to date in the DTM series when bagging a second place finish behind Gary Paffett.

"I want to forget the round at the Nrburgring as quickly as possible," said Jarvis.

"I'm definitely looking forward to Zandvoort very much. The race last year was great. The facility is one of my favourite tracks.

"We want to achieve a great race result under all circumstances and I can hardly wait to drive there."

Back in England Michael Caine will bid to add to his second race win of the 2010 Porsche Carrera Cup season on Sunday when taking to the track for rounds 13 and 14 of the series at Silverstone.

Last time out at Snetterton the Newmarket driver bagged a lights to flag victory in round 11 before claiming second in round 12 behind championship leader Tim Harvey.
