TAE KWON-DO: Berry looking to world championships

SEAN Berry warmed up for this year's Tae-Kwon-Do World Championships in perfect style after clinching gold at the Tae-Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain North Midlands Championships at the weekend.

The 16-year-old, from Newmarket, needed a last minute three point kick to the head to clinch the gold medal in the under-67kg sparring competition.

Trailing 5-3 to Norfolk based competitor Liam Palmer, Berry used all of his techniques to land the powerful kick to Palmer's head to record a slender 6-5 victory.

Earlier this year Berry, who trains at Linton under the guidance of Jason Newton, was crowned Midlands Champion following a 3-1 victory in the final of the competition in Kettering.

Berry will next take to the floor when lining up in the World Championships which are set to take place in Telford over the weekend of September 11 and 12.
