Speedway: Fen Tigers unveil new rider

MILDENHALL Fen Tigers have replaced reserve rider Darren Smith with 19-year-old academy rider Nick Laurence ahead of the side's weekend meetings.

The move has come after Smith has decided that he wants to concentrate on his business concerns in the car industry.

In his three meetings for the West Row outfit the 28 year old only managed to score one point from the number six berth.

"We would like to thank Darren for his efforts with the Fen Tigers and wish him all the best for his future and we must understand his work life must come first," team manager John Adams said.

Laurence, who has been putting in some impressive performances for the academy side will slot straight in at number six for the away trip to Weymouth and Sunday's home clash with Bournemouth.

Adams added: "I feel a bit sorry for Nick really he comes into the team for arguably our two toughest fixtures but he is dead keen.

"He likes it at Mildenhall where we have tried to look at him and I know he is really looking forward to taking his chance with both hands."
