MOTORSPORT: Huff still wants first victory

ROB Huff is confident of adding to his first victory of the 2010 World Touring Car Championship as he gets set to take to the track for rounds 15 and 16 of the series at Oschersleben, Germany, on Sunday.

Last time out at Brno, Czech Republic, the 30 year old gave his title chances a huge boost after securing a lights to flag victory in round 13 before going on to secure fourth in round 14, leaving him just 32 points behind championship leader Yvan Muller.

However, the Chevrolet star will be avoiding to repeat what happened on his last visit to the German circuit 12 months ago following a retirement in the day's opening race after a tangle with then BMW star Jorg Muller before taking a mediocre ninth place in race two.

"Oschersleben is very much a BMW track. It is very small and tight and is hard on the front tyres. Although last year was a bit of a write -off the year before the Lacetti performed really well around there.

The aim will be to get a good qualifying time and get on pole - take a victory in race one and have a good race two. I am confident I can do this."

Since his last outing on the track on August 1 Huff along with his team of engineers have been doing their homework in order to find even more race pace for the Cruze following a testing session at Magny-Cours, France.

"It proved to be a really worthwhile trip. We are still finding a lot of improvements on the car. Although the car is constantly being quick in qualifying what we are trying to do is focus on our race pace and prevent the degradation of tyres to match the second half race speed of the BMWs.

"We will be taking a lot of the results forward into Sunday's meeting."

Back in England Oliver Jarvis will hope to secure a home victory when taking to the track for round seven of the German Touring Car series at Brands Hatch. T

he 26 year old secured just his second point scoring finish of the season last time in Zandvoort, Holland, taking sixth behind race winner Gary Paffett.

In Scotland, Michael Caine will bid to carry on his winning run in rounds 15 and 16 of the Porsche Carrera Cup at Knockhill following back-to-back victories last time out at Silverstone.
