Buck sets new trend

editorial image

Newmarket Swimming Club’s masters squad returned from the National Short Course Masters Championships in Sheffield with a host of medals and personal bests (pbs).

The medals all came from Ashley Buck, who set the club up for a good weekend after picking up gold in the 200m backstroke, silver in both the 400m freestyle and 200m freestyle, and one bronze.

The squad also returned with some very strong pbs. Olivia Curtin bagged four new pbs, including a smoothly swum 100m butterfly gaining her a second pb.

Josh Hall was another to land four pbs after mastering all four strokes, among them a massive three second pb in the 100m individual medley.

Jane Smith took half a second off her old 50m freestyle while Peter Winter notched three pbs, with his strongest coming in the 200m freestyle which saw him clock four seconds off his old time.
