EUROPEAN SUCCESS: Newmarket Kuk Sool Won took fifth spot at the European Championships

Newmarket Kuk Sool Won finished fifth out of more than 50 schools at the recent European Championships.

Adam Waller received the Grand Champion Award in the first degree black belt 15-17 year old category, as Newmarket’s 38 competitors enjoyed their success at the
annual competition.

Assistant instructor Emma Cowe was awarded her second degree black belt, while four-year-old Belle Clark won three bronze medals in sparring, self defence and empty hand forms.

Newmarket received a Korean sword for finishing fifth in the event, with principal instructor Scott Slack thrilled with his team’s achievements.

“I’m extremely proud of all my students,” he said. “We have a fantastic club that is both friendly and enthusiastic.

“Seeing the results of their hard work and the progress each individual has made is fantastic.

“Next year we are going for a top three place!”

The club gets together on Wednesday and Sunday evenings at the Newmarket Leisure Centre, and to find out more, call Scott on 07525 258987.
