Brett Claydon saw his dreams of reaching the PDC William Hill World Darts Championship end at the PDPA Qualifier in Coventry on Monday.
The Soham-based darts player made a perfect start to event held at the city’s Ricoh Arena when disposing of Michael Beal 5-0.
That was as good as it was to get for the 31-year-old, who plays for Burwell in the Cambridgeshire Super League, after going down 5-3 to Andy Pearce in round two.
Winning the event and earning a place in round one of the showpiece event at Alexandra Palace was Jason Hogg following a 5-2 victory over Scott Mackenzie.
Claydon, who won his first ever Unicorn Challenge Tour earlier this year, will be back in action at the PDC Qualifying School in at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan next month, as he attempts to earn his full PDC Tour Card.
