Snappers Lad will go it alone for Mark Wallis in the final of the Category One Betfred Eclipse at Nottingham on Tuesday.
Entering Monday’s semi-finals as the least fancied entry of the Lakenheath handler’s trio of runners, the son of Wallis’ 2012 Greyhound Derby hero Blonde Snapper, made it through to the final when defying his 16/1 price-tag, to secure second in the third and final semi-final.
Impressive first round winner Benkaat Nero failed to muster a similar performance in the second semi-final when finishing back in fourth behind Maum Legend.
Disappointment also greeted Wallis’ other remaining entry in the 500 metre competition after Blonde Razor trailed home last in the third semi-final.
Adageo Bob made a successful return to the track on Monday when running out an easy winner of the third heat of the Terry Jago Memorial Trophy at Romford.
Having been off the track with injury since his semi-final elimination from the Coral Champion Stakes in September, the son of Hondo Black, brushed aside his rivals, including kennelmate Reel Trickyone, in a time of 35.04 seconds, to secure a spot in tomorrow’s final of the Category Three event.
