Sharks set new best times at developments event

Mildenhall Sharks swimmers set an impressive 43 personal bests at the West Suffolk Spring Developments event earlier this month.

Marni Sillitoe and Sasha Welbourn achieved eight personal bests, while Jennifer Wood clocked up six new personal bests during the gala.

Leon Galler won gold in the 100 metre freestyle and bronze in the 50m breaststroke, while Sillitoe took first place in the 100m individual medley and third in the 100m butterfly.

Alex Milner claimed bronze in the 50m backstroke, with Nathan Boisvert taking home third place in the 200m freestyle.

The Sharks now have more than 35 swimmers who have achieved qualifying times for next month’s Suffolk Developments Championships.

n Newmarket and Mildenhall Masters joined forces to claim nine medals at the Norfolk Masters Open on Saturday.

Jane Smith, John Browne, Lisa Withers and Reuben Smith teamed up to take bronze in the 160+ years medley relay, with Jane Smith, Browne and Withers securing the silver medal with Rob Garry in the 200+ years freestyle relay.

Withers and Reuben Smith both achieved two new personal best times each, as the team finished with four golds, four silvers and one bronze medal.
