Dullingham’s Jamie Sales set a new personal best at the ESAA National Championships to become the number one ranked under-15 1500m runner in the East of England.

The 14-year-old second claim Newmarket Jogger ran his Junior Boys 1500m heat in four minutes and 20.4 seconds on Friday.

But despite running a new best time Sales did not qualify for the final, finishing 19th overall out of the 31 runners.

Elsewhere, Burwell’s Maisey Snaith also set a new personal best as she just missed out on a place in the Junior Girls 200m final on Saturday.

The 14-year-old finished third in her heat with a time of 25.86 seconds, just 0.17 seconds behind second-placed Ella Wansell (25.69).

Sales and Snaith paraded around the Gateshead International Stadium with the rest of their Cambridgeshire team after the event, with a total of 45 counties represented during the English schools event.
