Nick Brett and Greg Harlow saw the defence of their Just Retirement World Indoor Bowls pairs title come to an end on Monday after suffering a semi-final defeat.

The City of Ely teammates, who defeated the Scottish pairing of Darren Burnett and Stewart Anderson on Saturday, failed to match the victory in their semi-final contest at the Potters Leisure Resort by losing out to fellow English pair Simon Skelton and Robert Paxton 10-5, 12-4

“I didn’t produce the goods and left Greg with a lot of difficult shots to play. I’m really disappointed with my performance,” said Brett.

Harlow was forced to come through a deciding set in his opening round singles match against Martin Puckett.

The 2010 world singles champion lost the first set 7-5 before claiming the second 9-5 to force the decider.

Using all his experience Harlow edged the tiebreak set 2-1.

Brett was scheduled to face Andy McLean in round one yesterday.
