Newmarket and District Swimming Club were the top-performing squad at Sudbury’s Valentines Masters meeting.

In total, the Newmarket team walked away with 46 meeting medals from the event, which incorporated this year’s Suffolk County Masters and Seniors Championships.

However, they went even better in the County Championships with a haul of 33 golds, 14 silvers and seven bronzes.

Individually, Sarah Lingard and Reuben Smith were the leading lights, with both winning six golds.

Leslie Broussard and Jane Smith gained five golds and silvers apiece, while Alice Theobald returned three golds, two silvers and a bronze.

The other swimmers were: Peter Winter (three gold & two silver), Alex Millard (two gold, three silver & four bronze), Sophie Bellwood (two gold, two silver & two bronze) and Alasdair Craighead (two gold & a silver).
