New Astley Amateur Boxing Club celebrated a successful 12 months in the ring at their annual awards night.

Lee Morfey won the Senior Boxer of the Year trophy after getting to the quarter-finals of the Senior Under-20s earlier this year, while Demie-Jade Resztan was awarded Boxer of the Year.

Resztan won two of her four fights to finish as runner-up at the National Senior Elite Championships as well as representing England twice in only her first season as a senior boxer.

Jessie Goody picked up the Schoolboy of the Year trophy after winning both his fights, while the accolade for Best Junior Newcomer went to Dean Allum.

Kirsty Kenn was awarded the Most Improved trophy, with Most Dedicated Trainer going to youngster Kieren Keen.

Club secretary Debbie Tervitt’s hard work was recognised with the John Humphrey Trophy, with all the trophies presented to the winners by club president Ron Walwork.
