Tim Gredley saddled his first winner during the 10th Pointing East Anglia meeting of 2016/17 at High Easter Racing Club on Saturday.
The former Great Britain show jumper, who is based in Stetchworth, passed the post first on the James Owen-trained Silvergrove in the PPORA Race for Novice riders.
His win was all the more impressive after an error at the fifth last fence.
There was also success for Ely’s Richard Collinson in the Men’s Open race.
With usual jockey Charles Buckle unavailable to compete, Collinson took over the responsibility with Nightscape and the pair went on to win by a nose.
n The 11th round of the season on Saturday will see the riders and trainers head for Horseheath, near Haverhill (1.30pm).
