Joggers out in force

Members of the Newmarket Joggers and Newmarket Cycling and Triathlon Club (NCTC) were out in force for the curtain raiser to this year’s Suffolk Cross Country Winter League at Framlingham Castle.

The in-form Alex Cairns led home the Joggers’ contingent in the four-and-a-half mile race held on Sunday, finishing in 40th place overall.

Jason Beeton is coming back to his best after a patient rehab from injury and was rewarded with 62nd in the race, with Joggers rookie Crispin Lewis next home in 111th.

Niki Chapman (122nd), Kate Fenn (129th), Charles Shoolbred (148th), Clive Purbrook (153th), Kevin Connolly (154th), Marcus Gynn (159th) Brian Munns (214th), Jim Withers (225th), Belinda Schofield (254th), Malcolm Osbourn (263rd), Helen Wass (271st), Kate Warboys (283rd), Isabel Vincinte (310th), Lisa Jennings (320th) and Jenny Osbourn (325th) followed.

As for those lining-up for NCTC, Peter Williams was first to cross the line when coming home in 46th place.

Williams’ daughter Parris Williams was next to complete the race, finishing in 115th.

Lee Dickinson (176th), Gary Dickinson (204th), Trevor Sallis (209th), Kate Harman (229th) and Lisa Redman (231st) also came home for NCTC.

The next fixture will take place at Woodbridge on December 6.

n Joggers member Joe Richer produced a fine run in the Leicester Marathon, coming home in three hours 40 minutes one seconds.

The much-travelled Dave Price entered the Great South Run down in Portsmouth.

In spite of a stitch, Price finished the fast flat 10-mile course in 1.33.49.
