Gary Rimmer had a weekend to remember, winning both the Jeagor Farm Winter League match on Saturday and the Newmarket Angling Club pairs match the following day.

Rimmer now sits second in the league after finishing with a 31lb 10oz bag on Saturday from peg 12.

Frank Howard (peg 13) was second with 25lb 8oz caught on corn and the method.

League leader John Millard (peg two) fished the method on his pole to finish with 20lb 2oz.

The next match in the league is on Sunday.

The following day at Jeagor Farm, Rimmer teamed up with John Millard to win the pairs match.

Rimmer was second in his section with a 12lb 10oz bag of mainly carp caught on pellet over micro-pellet.

Millard also came second in his section with a 9lb 10oz catch containing one good 5lb tench and a 2lb carp all on red maggot.

Second place on the day went to the father-and-son pairing of David and Andy Day.

Andy outcaught his dad with a 24lb 12oz bag of carp while David’s 8lb 13oz total was made up of silver fish.

Third spot went to Geoff Arnold (14lb 5oz) and Bobby Coulson (2lb 8oz)

n The first Airflo Bank Masters heat is being held at Blackdyke Trout Fishery on Sunday.

Entry forms can be picked up at the Hockwold venue or printed off from Iain Barr’s Fly Fishing for Trout Flies website.

Apps blood worms, yellow dancers and damsel lures are all working well at Blackdyke this week.
