Budding jockey William Humphrey has received a taste of what it feels like to win on the race track after landing his first pony race.

Humphrey, who is the son of West Wratting trainer Sarah Humphrey, demonstrated his skills in the saddle when steering Red Pepper to glory in a six-furlong contest at Lingfield last month.

Although starting out wide the pair managed to move over to the rail before the first bend.

Kicking for home three-furlongs out Humphrey and Red Pepper, who raced over in Deauville back in August, and Red Pepper held on to take the race by a length
and a half from the chasing pack.
