Harrison takes the long pole approach at Jeagor Farm

Single maggot proved the winning tactic on the long pole for Garry Harrison at Jeagor Farm on Sunday.

Harrison, sitting on Peg 3, bagged 13lb 1oz to scoop first in the penultimate Winter League match.

Second spot went to Eddie Powell on Peg 11 with 8lb 6oz while Bill Brown came in third on Peg 16. Bill was using the method feeder and ended up with 7lb 6oz.

The next match will be the decider in the winter series and takes place on Saturday, February 28.

n Blackdyke Trout Fishery hosted the first Airflo Bankmasters competition on Sunday with Charlie Abraham coming out on top.

The contest was fished in bright but still conditions and it proved a hard match with the fish hiding in the reeds,

Second spot went to Keith Jones, with Jeff Wilkinson third and Jeff Simmons in fourth. Small dry blobs and buzzers worked well for anglers on floating lines.

The next Bankmasters contest takes place on March 22.

n Newmarket Angling Club have got an away draw against Hoskins Haulers in the Bait-Tech Super Cup.

The tie will take place on April 5 at a venue still to be announced by the home side.

Newmarket AC have been entered in the competition for the past seven years and have reached the semi-finals on five occasions.
