Big Orange made it back-to-back victories in the Qatar Goodwood Cup this afternoon.
The Michael Bell-trained horse took some good form heading into the Sussex meeting, having won the Princess of Wales’s Stakes for a second time at Newmarket recently.
On this occasion, with Jamie Spencer in the saddle, the five-year-old hit the front of the field early and was never caught, despite a spirited challenge from second-placed Pallasator.
It means that Big Orange is the first horse to win consecutive Goodwood Cups since Double Trigger, who completed the double in 1997 and 1998.
His next big outing could well be overseas, with trips to Australia, Canada and Hong Kong all thought to be under consideration.
