The new look Mildenhall Fen Tigers team hit the track for their annual press and practice day ahead of the start of the new season.

There was a large turn out of Fen Tigers’ supporters on Monday, as they got to watch their riders in action before the season gets underway next weekend.

The team’s assistant manager, Phil Kirk, said: “It was a very positive day with all of the first team there and they all got plenty of track time.

“The press and practice day is a big part of our build-up to the season and it was great to see so many of our supporters attend the event.

“It’s a free event for the fans and we had around 150 there on the day who were there to see the riders out on track getting ready for the season.

“Thanks to everyone for turning up and a big thanks to the track staff. Without them, we wouldn’t have been able to run the day.”

Mildenhall announced the signing of Alex Spooner, who has joined up with the Fen Tigers Cubs after impressing on the track during the press and practice day.

“We were looking for one more rider to add to the team,” explained Kirk. “We invited him down and he looked good on the bike so we’ve added him to our roster.”

n Mildenhall Fen Tigers Cubs duo Sam Bebee and Jordan Jenkins were both in action during the Ulrich Ostergaard Testimonial meeting on Sunday afternoon.

The pair had a successful meeting, with Bebee wining his two rides and Jenkins finishing second in his two, as both riders looked impressive.

The meeting was won by Niels Kristian Iversen, who produced a flawless maximum to finish with 15 points.

Hans Anderson took second place with 13 points, while Poland’s Krzysztof Buczkowski completed the podium places with 12 points.

n Mildenhall’s Luke Ruddick will go up against former teammate Jack Kingston in the semi-final of the British Under-21 Championship, after the pair were drawn together in heat one.

Ruddick will also take on Kelsey Duggard and Ellis Perks in the opening heat, while elsewhere in the draw, Fen Tigers’ riders Connor Mountain and Alfie Bowtell have been drawn in heats two and three, with the semi-final taking place in Kent on April 4.

Riders will be chasing a top 10 finish on the night in order to qualify for the final of the competition, which takes place in Sheffield 10 days later.
