Ely impress at Seniors EC2

Ely won two of their three matches at the Seniors EC2 with a late winner from Colchester ending their unbeaten streak.

Callum Thoday levelled for Ely in their opening game after Letchworth had taken an early lead, before James Cox struck twice to give them a 3-1 lead at the interval.

Both sides scored twice after the break as Ely secured a 5-3 win, with Thoday netting both to complete his hat-trick.

Thoday and Cox were on target again in the second game as Ely thrashed Cambridge 8-3.

In the final game Ely found themselves 3-1 up against Colchester at half-time, before their Essex opponents fought back to make it 3-3.

Colchester bagged the decisive goal with less than two minutes on the clock to end Ely’s unbeaten run.
